What is Medicaid?

The Utah Medicaid program pays medical bills for people

  • Who qualify for a category of Medicaid; [Categories are listed on the General Information page, under "Utah Medicaid Programs. Categories of Medicaid and who qualifies.
  • Who have low income or cannot afford the cost of health care
  • Who have resources (assets) under the federal limit for the category of Medicaid

Choosing a Primary Care Provider (PCP) is not required. You should only see providers listed in the directory. Talk to your Primary Care Provider about seeing a specialist, or call Provider Referral Services. If your first language is not English, Healthy U will get an interpreter to help you over the phone or in person at your medical appointments. To get an interpreter, call Member Services.
